What is a PHANTOM coat?

Phantom coloured dogs have a solid base color with sharply defined markings of a second color appearing above each eye, on the sides of the muzzle, on the throat/ fore-chest, on all four legs and feet, and below the tail.

K locus alleles determine the colouring pattern of a dog's coat. E locus alleles determine whether an animal expresses a mask or grizzle pattern.

A locus alleles determine whether an animal expresses an agouti appearance.

Phantom markings must have a ky/ky genotype plus an E or EM, and also be at/at.
